Wig Maintenance 101: Daily Habits for Long-Lasting Hair

Great wig care isn't just about wash day; it's about the small habits you practice every single time you wear and remove your hairpiece. Consistent daily maintenance is the secret to a long-lasting wig.
End-of-Day Detangling
The most important habit you can develop is detangling your wig at the end of every day. Pay special attention to the nape of the neck, where friction from your collar causes the most tangles. Gently comb through with a wide-tooth comb before placing it on its stand.
Avoid Friction
Friction is the enemy of wig fibers, causing them to fray and frizz. Be mindful of high collars, thick scarves, and seatbelts rubbing against the hair. If you have a long wig, consider sweeping it over one shoulder when sitting in the car.
Use the Right Products
Never use standard drugstore hairspray or serums on your wigs, especially synthetic ones. These products can leave a dull, sticky residue that is difficult to wash out. Invest in styling products specifically formulated for the type of wig you own.
