Summer Wig Care: How to Stay Cool and Protect Your Hair

Summer Wig Care: How to Stay Cool and Protect Your Hair

Summer brings sunshine and vacations, but it also brings challenges for wig wearers. Heat, humidity, chlorine, and UV rays require a change in your wig care routine.

    Switch to Synthetic

If you usually wear human hair, consider switching to a synthetic wig for the summer. Synthetic fibers are much lighter, hold their style perfectly in high humidity, and won't frizz when you sweat.

    Protect from UV Rays

Just like your skin, human hair wigs need protection from the sun to prevent the color from fading and the hair from drying out. Use a UV protectant spray formulated for hair, or simply wear a stylish wide-brimmed hat when spending long hours outdoors.

    Wash More Frequently

During hotter months, you will sweat more, which means oils and salts will build up inside the wig cap faster. You may need to wash your wig slightly more often than you do in the winter to keep the cap fresh and the hair moving naturally.
