How to Wash and Care for Your Synthetic Wig

Caring for a synthetic wig is easier than you might think, but it requires a different approach than washing natural hair. With the right techniques and products, you can keep your wig looking beautiful and extend its lifespan.
1. Detangle First
Before getting your wig wet, gently comb out any tangles using a wide-tooth comb or a special wig brush. Start from the ends and carefully work your way up to the roots to avoid pulling or stretching the hair fibers.
2. Use the Right Shampoo
Never use regular hair shampoo on a synthetic wig. Fill a basin with cool water (never hot, as it can damage the fibers) and add a capful of synthetic wig shampoo. Gently submerge the wig and swish it around. Do not rub or wring it.
3. Rinse and Condition
Rinse the wig thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear. Apply a synthetic wig conditioner, avoiding the cap and root area to prevent loosening the knots. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing again.
4. Drying Your Wig
Gently blot the wig with a towel to remove excess water. Never twist or wring it. Place the wig on a wig stand to air dry completely. Do not brush the wig while it's wet, and avoid using hair dryers or heat tools.
